Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) appears in men when the size of the prostate gland increases and causes an obstruction or disturbance to the urinary flow. Due to the compression and obstruction of the prostatic urethra caused by BPH, there is difficulty in the exit of urine from the bladder. This causes symptoms that in the best of cases can be simply obstructive (delayed onset of urination, intermittent or incomplete urination...) or, more seriously, they can also be irritative.
