Features: leaves and flowers are used. Contains rich essence especially thymol and carvacrol in two fenolisómeros. Other important phytoconstituents are flavonoids (apigenol and luteolol derivatives), phenols acids (caffeic acid, rosmarinic acid), vitamin B1, vitamin C, manganese, tannins, saponins, etc..
Constituents: Essential oil and polyphenols stand out, particularly flavonoids. - Essential oil (1.0-2.5%). It is mainly made up of monoterpenic phenols: thymol (up to 70%) and carvacrol (up to 65%), along with other monoterpenes such as p-cymene, camphene, limonene, borneol, etc., and various sesquiterpenes. - It also contains monoterpenic heterosides. - Flavonoids: apigenin and luteolin; methoxylated flavones, such as cirsilineol, cirsimaritin, 5-desmethylnobiletin, 5-desmethylsinensetine, eupatorin, gardenin D, 8-methoxy-cirsilineol, sideritoflavone, timonin, thymusin, xanthomicrol, etc .; flavanones, flavonols, and heterosides (6,8-di-C-glucosyl-luteolin and others). - Other components are phenolic acids: caffeic, rosmarinic; tannins and triterpenes (ursolic and oleanolic acids). Constituents: Contains flavonoids (diosmosido), phenolic acids (caffeic, chlorogenic, rosmarinic), triterpenes (ursolic and oleanolic acid), choline, which intervenes in its hypotensive action, by direct action on the vascular smooth muscles.
